D\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par R\u00e9mi Herbulot et illustr\u00e9 par Michel Rho, le soft s\u2019inscrit dans la lign\u00e9e des jeux d\u2019action\u2011aventure en 3D isom\u00e9trique, \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re de <em>Knight Lore<\/em> sur ZX Spectrum, mais avec une identit\u00e9 propre, plus color\u00e9e, plus \u00ab cartoon \u00bb et nettement plus vivante techniquement pour un micro de 64 Ko.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"686\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/crafton_et_xunk-686x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/crafton_et_xunk-686x1024.jpg 686w, https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/crafton_et_xunk-201x300.jpg 201w, https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/crafton_et_xunk-768x1146.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/crafton_et_xunk-1030x1536.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/crafton_et_xunk-1373x2048.jpg 1373w, https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/crafton_et_xunk-1024x1528.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/crafton_et_xunk-scaled.jpg 1716w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Sur un fond de science\u2011fiction bon chic bon genre, l\u2019histoire se d\u00e9roule en 2912 : la Terre et ses colonies spatiales tremblent \u00e0 l\u2019id\u00e9e que l\u2019ordinateur central de contr\u00f4le galactique, abrit\u00e9 dans le centre de recherche Zarxas, soit d\u00e9truit. \u00c0 la man\u0153uvre, Crafton, un andro\u00efde sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans les missions dangereuses, et Xunk, son fid\u00e8le podoc\u00e9phale (un pied dot\u00e9 d\u2019un cerveau, en gros), charg\u00e9s de p\u00e9n\u00e9trer le complexe et d\u2019emp\u00eacher la catastrophe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"une-prouesse-technique-dans-la-jungle-des-8bits\">Une prouesse technique dans la jungle des 8\u2011bits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce qui frappe d\u00e8s les premi\u00e8res secondes, c\u2019est la mise en sc\u00e8ne : chaque salle de Zarxas est construite en 3D isom\u00e9trique, avec des murs, des meubles, des objets et des personnages tous ind\u00e9pendants, le tout anim\u00e9 avec une fluidit\u00e9 rare pour l\u2019\u00e9poque. Loin des jeux en deux couleurs qui dominaient encore sur Amstrad, <em>Crafton &amp; Xunk<\/em> exploite le mode basse r\u00e9solution de la machine pour afficher jusqu\u2019\u00e0 16 couleurs par \u00e9cran, offrant une palette vive, presque \u00ab bande dessin\u00e9e \u00bb, qui donne au complexe un aspect \u00e0 la fois futuriste et caricatural.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"717\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/p27-1024x717.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/p27-1024x717.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/p27-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/p27-768x538.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cultcrusher.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/p27.jpg 1168w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Herbulot, inspir\u00e9 par <em>Knight Lore<\/em>, ne s\u2019est pas content\u00e9 de copier : il a cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 aller plus loin en termes de vitesse, de d\u00e9tails et de jouabilit\u00e9. Le r\u00e9sultat est un environnement interactif o\u00f9 l\u2019on peut d\u00e9placer des meubles, grimper sur des objets empil\u00e9s, pousser ou tirer des caisses, activer des interrupteurs et manipuler une kyrielle d\u2019objets pour d\u00e9bloquer des salles. Techniquement, c\u2019est une prouesse pour un CPC 464\/6128, et cela se ressent dans la densit\u00e9 du level design, o\u00f9 chaque couloir, chaque laboratoire, chaque sas semble avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 pens\u00e9 comme un petit puzzle autonome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"[Amstrad CPC] Crafton &amp; Xunk - Longplay\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zKaRb5M38zU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"gameplay--action-nigmes-et-humour-potache\">Gameplay : action, \u00e9nigmes et humour potache<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Le c\u0153ur du jeu tient dans un m\u00e9lange subtil d\u2019action, de plate\u2011forme et de r\u00e9flexion. Crafton \u00e9volue dans un labyrinthe de salles interconnect\u00e9es, collecte des objets, r\u00e9sout des \u00e9nigmes de portes \u00e0 codes, contourne des gardes et des robots, et exploite les capacit\u00e9s de Xunk, qui peut bloquer un ennemi, servir de marchepied ou activer certains m\u00e9canismes. L\u2019humour bon enfant, visible dans le design de Xunk, dans les noms des salles ou dans certains sprites, vient adoucir la difficult\u00e9, qui reste tout de m\u00eame assez relev\u00e9e pour l\u2019\u00e9poque : chaque erreur co\u00fbte cher, et les sauvegardes n\u2019existent pas, ce qui pousse le joueur \u00e0 m\u00e9moriser les chemins et les combinaisons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"une-empreinte-franaise-dans-lre-des-hits-britanniq\">Une empreinte fran\u00e7aise dans l\u2019\u00e8re des hits britanniques<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c9dit\u00e9 par ERE Informatique, <em>Crafton &amp; Xunk<\/em> est un pur produit fran\u00e7ais, dans sa conception, son esth\u00e9tique et sa narration, \u00e0 une \u00e9poque o\u00f9 le march\u00e9 europ\u00e9en du jeu vid\u00e9o \u00e9tait largement domin\u00e9 par les studios britanniques. Les conversions sur Atari ST (1987) et MSX2 (1988) confirment l\u2019aura du titre, m\u00eame si la version Amstrad reste, pour beaucoup de puristes, la plus \u00ab authentique \u00bb, tant elle exploite parfaitement les limites de la machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"une-uvre-culte-dans-lhistoire-du-rtrogaming\">Une \u0153uvre culte dans l\u2019histoire du r\u00e9tro\u2011gaming<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, <em>Crafton &amp; Xunk<\/em> est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme une petite perle du catalogue Amstrad, souvent cit\u00e9 parmi les meilleurs jeux d\u2019action\u2011aventure de la plate\u2011forme.
